Ideal Blanket For Your Home

Some people see the task of buying blankets as a chore, something that needs to be done so you have a fully decked out bed to sleep on. But there are a lot of choices in blankets, especially when it comes to fabrics. You can have a lot of fun trying different fabrics to either match decor or suit the weather.

The most important thing to consider before buying any sort of blanket is if you or anyone else who may be using them is allergic to certain fabrics. Some people do have contact allergies to various fabrics as well as dust mites that can attach to them, so make that a priority issue when purchasing.

The most popular choice for blankets is cotton. A cotton sheet set can be perfect to keep a person comfortable. It's the top choice for several reasons. It's incredibly durable and can withstand several washings before showing any real wear and tear. They are also incredible soft and breathable, so they work all year round and especially well in hot weather. They are also the most affordable option, depending on thread count of course. Egyptian and Pima cotton sheets are the best quality that can be bought.

Silk is also great for warm weather as it stays pretty cool. It's a luxurious fabric, so silk sheets can be a bit pricey but will make you feel like royalty. The only downside is that silk requires dry cleaning to stay in its best condition, if you are going to be using them regularly. That does add up financially over time, so consider if it's worth it for you.

For cold weather, look into fleece blankets as an option. Fleece is thick and very warm, too warm for summer months but perfect for blustery cold winters. It's also durable enough to take camping or to the beach without it getting torn or ruined from the elements.

Wool and down are also two great options for winter blankets. Wool is a great insulator and will create dry warmth as it absorbs moisture and causes it to evaporate. It's also flame-retardant. Down is perfect for heavier comforters, as it's made with feathers inside that are light yet comfortable, creating a fluffy comforter.
Consider all your choices the next time you are set to buy blankets. A lot of it depends on your own preferences as well as budget, so have a fabric in mind before you hit the store so you won't be so overwhelmed once you get there.
