Ants, they all come in different shapes and sizes. And it does not matter what type of ant they are if they appear in your home. Almost everybody has to deal with ants in their house. These ants seem to be able to get into every crack and slits. Ants have been a problem for a long time, so people have came up with many ways to get rid of them and back into nature where they belong.

The big question is: How to get rid of ants at your home? To get rid of ants, there is one big fact you've got to know: It is no secret that ants like food. They come into a house because it is the best place to find food, especially the kitchen. The first thing you should do when you find out you have ants is do a thorough cleaning to get rid of any food or food residue. Small amount of food like bread crumbs is enough to call them to come inside you house. So the first thing that you need to do to rid your household of ants should be to clean up and the first place to start with is your kitchen.

Ants usually come in through cracks or openings so try your best to find where they are coming in at and close it up. Caulking works really well to seal up cracks and other openings where they may be getting in. You may have to do some investigating because they can enter through even the smallest of areas which you do not realize. One of the ways to find out is that when you find a trail of ants, track that trail and you should be able to find potential cracks and openings.

Once you have done your part to make your home 'less welcoming', you can do a couple of more things to get rid of ants. You should realize that there are a few common household items that ants absolutely hate. First, they can not stand baby powder, so if you sprinkle some of the powder in corners where you see them it should make them leave. They also do not like vinegar, which you can spray/dip them in the areas where you have seen them. You can also sprinkle black pepper, cinnamon and bay leaves around to keep them out.

As long as you take enough precautions to prevent the ants from coming back - e.g. cleaning up food and sealing entrances - you should be able to see lesser ants in your household. Finally, you should be able to try some of the homemade ant repellents that are found in most DIY stores and you should be able to know how to get rid of ants more effectively.
